(getting back on track after a few weeks of the household needing attention and mending.)
The Northern 1A Regional Basketball tournament was held in Reno, Nevada at Damonte and Wooster High Schools. The Lady Wolves, the number 2 seed from the West, faced Wells, a tough number 3 seed from the East, in the opening round of the Northern Regional Tournament at Damonte Ranch High School.
The Lady Leopards, proving to be a tough number 3 seed, jumped out to an early lead and kept it throughout the first half. Our Lady Wolves fought hard to break the opposing full court pressure defense.
In the second half of regulation play, the Lady Wolves began to cut the lead, but could not mount a large enough comeback. While the Lady Wolves outscored the Lady Leopards in the second and third quarters, it just wasn’t enough to overtake them. The Lady Leopards advanced to the second round of playoffs, with a final score of 46-28.
While disappointed, the Lady Wolves made their fans, that traveled to Reno to support them, very proud.
You had an incredible season and we could not be more proud of you!!!

In the first round of Regional play, our Wolves were also seeded number 2 from the West.
In the first match-up, the Wolves faced a young, but talented, number 3 seed in the Jackpot Jaguars. The two teams traded baskets early on in the first quarter. But our boys defense picked up and created scoring opportunities as the game went on.
The boys maintained about a 17 point lead throughout much of the second and third quarters only to allow the Jaguar to cut the lead to 6. The Wolves regrouped, after a critical timeout, and regained a 17 point lead. The Wolves advanced to the second round of the playoffs with a win, 62-45.
In the second round, the Wolves faced a known-opponent, the Smith Valley Bulldogs. The Bulldogs and the Wolves had two very close, very hard-fought games, in the regular season. The Wolves won the first and second league-contests by a margin of 1 and 4 points respectively.
The Wolves started the game, as they had the two previous, jumping out to an early 15 point lead. But the determined Bulldogs came back and cut the deficit to 1 point lead at halftime.
The two teams traded leads throughout the second half and with just over a minute remaining the Bulldogs hit 2 free throws to take a 1 point lead. With heart and determination, the boys fought until the very end, coming up just short as the final score was 65-60 Bulldogs.
