The Coleville Wolves football team arrived in Las Vegas, Nevada with a dream:
to be crowned Class1A State Football Champions
Like all teams that fight for state athletic crowns, they had to BELIEVE first
And They Did.
The Coleville Wolves believed, from the very first practice, they were not a one-athlete team, (as has been stated over and over).
They believed in the guy in pads to their left and right (playing with the same friends and athletes since elementary school) to learn new positions, run new routes, execute new plays.
They believed in Coach Sandy (who has been at the helm for the last 16 seasons)
to prepare them once again to give all they have
and then give more.
They believed they could, once again, represent Coleville High School and 1A Northern Nevada Football.
And They Did.
On Saturday, the Coleville Wolves played the Pahranagat Valley Panthers at Arbor View H.S. in Las Vegas, in a rematch of last year's State Football Championship. At the end of regulation the score was 40-6 and the Panthers were crowned 2010 Class1A State Football Champions. The Panthers proved, once again, to be quite a good team. A team that clearly believes in their program, is supported by community and staff and has built a foundation for their football program. We tip our hats.
All that being said, we could not be more proud of our Coleville Wolves and what they achieved this year. We lost, not one starting athlete from last year's team (as has been claimed), we lost six (5 to graduation and 1 to injury). Losing six starters on an 8-man football squad could devastate a program if you let it
The Wolves Did Not.
The Wolves were determined to represent the North once again. They came back from injuries, played through pain, fought each battle together, learned new plays and schemes (offensive and defensive), believed in their coaches and always demonstrated incredible sportsmanship.
We could NOT be more proud of the season you had, the goals you set and the young men you continue to become!
It was incredible to come out & support the team each weekend, to watch the teamwork displayed week to week and watch the dream unfold.
We look forward to celebrating your accomplishments with you at the Fall Sports Banquet on November 29th, in the Jackie Giorgi Gym. Dinner begins at 6:00pm.
